Guys, here's a link to my latest HuffingtonPost.com Off the Bus post:  "Show the Hacks and Hypocrites the Door."

I've been thinking about this ever since a fellow Marine combat mom and Hillary supporter told me that if Hillary didn't get the nomination, she was considering voting for John McCain, even though his plans to continue the war in Iraq indefinitely could directly affect the lives of our sons.

One of her central reasons for this was her contention that, "Obama flipped off Hillary."

Using links to a very good NY Times op-ed by Bob Herbert and a blogpost by Erica Jong, I discuss how the media has manipulated this hotly contested race by emphasizing trivialities, deliberately whipping up the frenzy of supporters on all sides of the debate, for purposes of entertainment.

(This is not a pro-Obama or a pro-Hillary or even a pro-Edwards blogpost, for that matter.  This goes way beyond which candidate gets the nomination.)

My conclusion is that we're too smart to fall for that again--not this time, not when the stakes are so terribly, awfully high for this whole country.

It's about not losing our minds over this primary battle, to keep our focus, and to make sure that we don't have to endure a third Bush term.

I look forward to seeing you there.  Post comments, but if for some reason you have problems doing so, we can continue the discussion right here.
